there were a lot of flaws with the USSR, this being one of them, but at least communists don’t pretend it’s some paragon of morality like capitalists think
I mean I have literally seen tankies try to say all the ethnic minorities Stalin ethnically cleansed were really just Nazi sympathizers

The USSR actively did pretend to be a paragon of morality. Wait until you read about the NKVD and KGB and the entire propaganda apparatus. Every modern state every has wanted to achieve its own goals AND be the hero in their own story
