ive said it once and ill say it again why is it that republicans think little suburban white kids will drop what they’re doing and run to factories if given the opportunity? its so strange. nobody wants to do that. nobody wants to work in a factory.
Y’all need to realize “bring manufacturing back to the U.S.” never meant “let’s create more jobs and give everybody a fair wage” it meant “let’s make people so desperate that they’ll work for the same wage and in the same conditions that sweatshops do”

Literally. *I’m pretty sure* most people work in like, retail, food, and healthcare now. The idea of some burly steelworker being the face of the proletariat has been over since NAFTA

Alternatively though, people would be more inclined to work hard factory jobs if we work to make unions strong again. At the end of the day, someone has to do it

People would do it if it paid well, but billionaires won’t pay them because “it’s low value work” and “then they would have to charge 100x the price”, but both of those lines are bullshit, it’s incredibly valuable work, the companies flat out rely on them, and they don’t need to charge a dime, the executives just need to take a massive pay cut and live like relatively normal people. Which is exactly what they should do anyway, because nobody needs to be own hundreds of millions of dollars. Fuck.
