Fascist do try overturn democratic elections (Jan 6th and the fake electors scheme), fascist do try to destroy checks on their power (calling for impeachment of judges) (ignoring court orders). Fascist do centralize power in themselves ( completely remaking the bureaucracy) (abusing emergency tariff powers to control all U.S. trade). Fascist do go after people who speak out against them (FCC chair pressuring ABC) (Make flag burning illegal) (AG going after “hate speech”).
So here’s why liberals and conservatives always end up talking past each other. Liberals are talking about the question of “Did Russia attempt to interfere in the 2016 election?” To which the answer is yes. Conservatives are talking on “Did Donald Trump COLLUDE with Russia?” and the answer to that is that there’s not really any strong evidence of it. Russia threw their support behind Trump, but collusion means Trump asked them to, and there’s not much evidence of that.
The actual investigation showed that the Russians were trying to interfere, but not that Trump colluded with that interference. So naturally, since that’s not a big win for either side of the Russiagate debate, they both just said the investigation said that they were right the whole time. When really it said they were both kinda right and kinda wrong.
