It’s actually shocking how little the average American knows about geography. It makes sense though because looking back I don’t think I ever learned world geography in school besides in AP classes

Fr I help my gf with her architecture homework and just knowing shit like -polis is a Greek root for city and basic geography like Persia is in the Middle East stuns her, like is this not basic information?

I memorized every country and its capital and its main language(s) when I was 8 and was very surprised to find most kids weren’t like that. Turns out that knowledge is extremely useful
