What forms of respectability politics do you know? I’m only aware of the single one.

I’m asking about scope, not the definition. Is it simply calling out the concept of having to dress a certain way or talk a certain way in order to gain acceptance/rights? Or is it saying that those who criticize disruptive protest tactics are adhering to respectability politics? That would be just one example of the scope in asking about.

It encompasses the talking points that basically blame black people for the woes and issues they face while blatantly ignoring the actual systems that put them there. It’s blaming black people for the disproportionate police deaths and not the policing as a system that was created for black oppression. At its base respectability politics says if black people conform to white standards then they’ll be treated as human.
