China’s population tree is so cooked dawg. Their poor policy to fight overpopulation has led to a projected 50% decrease in the next 100 years. From a government perspective, China’s feats don’t come close to prime USSR’s (especially space race) and neither does their military competition. The US and France are the only two nations with nuclear-powered aircraft carriers and even still, the US owns 11/12 in service and 12/13 in history (shoutout Big E).
Militarily tech, the US clears China. The main issue is with how certain terms like stealth and hypersonic are defined. If the US went off China’s definition of hypersonic, we’ve had them since the V2 Rocket. Foreign stealth doesn’t use the same cross-section specifications as us, and the F-22 Raptor is still the most capable fighter in the world. China has numbers and economic influence over the US, but that’s it.
Sorry I meant to reply earlier but my job got busy and my reply was gone! Nukes and MAD Doctrine made things just about even, but aside from those the US was pretty far ahead from the 60s onward. The US’s Cold War-era stockpile in Ukraine is doing way better than anyone expected against modern Russian equipment. Also, looking at both countries’ direct military conflicts, both had major failures, but the US took Afghanistan in 3 days while the USSR couldn’t in over 9 years.
