The Alabama governor has done a pretty good job I feel like as someone who lives there and moved from Michigan.

Virginian here; OP probably thinks that Youngkin is a moderate Republican when he in fact has been blocked by at least one Democratic state legislative chamber his entire term

I mean yeah, there’s a lot more money in nova so he’s never had a fully aligned capitol - but tbh i don’t think that’s a bad thing

They’ve had a huge budget surplus like his entire term, huge business investments into VA, massive expansion of state grants/programs which help Virginians all while maintaining the surplus, affordable housing programs, all while not being socially controversial as other republicans have

He isnt the best but when he managed to stop border crossings entirely while fighting against the federal government, that was pretty good and saved the state a lot of money

He’s been good for Florida… wouldn’t be good nationally though

If Youngkin had full govt control he would have been socially controversial

Corrupt to the bone selling out to large corporations claiming lower corporate taxes while life for the average person has progressively gotten worse. Our property taxes are ABSURD. Also horrible environmental management in a state that is at significantly high risk of drought and flooding from hurricanes. Not to mention deportations killing a significant labor pool that hurts a ton of industries. He should be red.

Texas has some of the lowest cost of living in the country despite how populated it is. That is something that has been maintained under him. I agree with your environmental concerns though

Also, he has brought SO much business to Texas from other states and countries. That is also something worth celebrating as it opens thousands of jobs

Yeah, but like 70% of the population lives in a cumulative 10% of the states land

I said most, not all. You’re acting like I said it was impossible. It’s not, it’s just so tedious or invasive that, in effect, the most sensible bypasses would be considered “illegal”

Out west yeah ig, point is the lower populated areas are going to skew the cost of living downward. If you want a realistic cost of living, you need to do it based on population and individual cities (if Austin is 11% of the population, then 11% of the average cost of living factor is weighted by Austin’s cost of living)

Perhaps that’s already what’s been accounted for, but knowing how expensive cities are id wager the metric you sited is skewed more heavily down based on the total amount of land area at a lower cost of living

Those businesses only came here for lower taxes and because we have shitty labor protection laws (no mandated breaks even in 110 degree heat, anti union laws).

Also I don’t know about Newsom. Dude seems like everything has to be a PR stunt. He can’t just do his job and pipe down like other governors.

Alabama is ranked last or near last in like everything and nothing has changed under Ivey. Newsom is ranked high because he vetos every stupid bill that the CA legislature tries to pass

I haven’t read up much on Hobbs lately, so I should’ve left her as grey, but I remember reading that she was doing a horrible job. Sorry I shouldn’t have ranked her
