I’m not as a whole. If the government wants to pursue deportation against violent criminals and gangsters, fine. Targeting children, established people who have lived here for 15 years, and simple mistakes such as visa overstays doesn’t rise to the level of deportation to me. Especially since this administration uses deportation to punish, and sends people to random countries sometimes instead of their home country.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m against any violence against immigrants and against sending people to random countries and against separating families and mistreating children. But shouldn’t the answer be to rehaul our system to make it easier and quicker? Why allow people to live here undocumented for 15 years?

I feel like if there’s no consequence for it, what’s the point in going through the trouble to get citizenship or visa or extend your visa? If I was let’s say in Japan and overstayed my visa and just wanted to keep living there, if there was no consequence for overstaying why would I seek out legal residency? I feel like I wouldn’t. I would rather avoid the hassle of paperwork.

Yes of course. I’ve taken lots of classes on immigration and have thoughts about it that are too many words to explain here. But the reason I’m generally fine w the undocumented staying here is bc how delayed and expensive the current system is. It should be changed but tbh I don’t see that happening with the increased nationalization in the us.

He either blocked me for calling it out or the post got taken down 💀 It’s so funny though bc most young ppl on the left aren’t Obama apologists and think a lot of what he did is still wrong. Like imagine thinking you countered a question asking “Did Obama use Blackhawks for ICE raids” with proof just for said proof to be the previous Republican president. Personally, I’d never use this app again
