Does Palestine not want the parts of Jordan that were in the mandate back too?

Jordan wasn’t in mandatory Palestine for very long, and before that modern Palestine and Jordan weren’t administered under the same units in the Ottoman Empire. In the Ottoman Empire Palestine was split up between different administrative units centered in modern Israel/palestine and also Lebanon

Prob not from my understanding the PLO tried to take over Jordan at one point but I doubt either Hamas of the PA would be making claims over Jordan now

I’m really glad to see a conversation about this that didn’t turn in to a shit show

But that logic doesn’t stop them from still wanting Israel so why does it not work towards Jordan?

Like am I confused bc I’m tired or is there a piece of historical context outside of a failed takeover?

Probably bc they see Israel as colonizers while Jordan got their independence around the same time and are an Arab state.

But Palestinians did try to take over Jordan at one point so I don’t think your that far off

I think optics wise it would be bad if they claimed Jordan bc then it wouldn’t be Palestinians vs colonizers it would look like they’re just randomly attacking people if that makes sense. They believe they have a stronger claim over Israel.

I get that I’m just surprised bc aren’t a lot of jordans (Jordanians?) ethnically Palestinian? I almost think reclaiming Jordan first could work to establish legitimacy

Yeah but that be like hitler taking over Czechoslovakia bc there’s German population there I don’t think many people would see that as legitimate. Jordan actually occupied the West Bank for period of time, I think the PA doesn’t have a military force and they are the closest to Jordan but there would be no way for them to invade bc the border is controlled by Israel.

Interesting. Idk in my head all these borders are vibes based anyways so if u want ur land back get it back but like that’s not how geopolitics works so glad im not in charge

I think maybe during the ottoman period they were vibes based but now a lot of people have died over them so I don’t think it’s that way anymore lol.

It makes more historical sense for Palestinians to try to claim Lebanon, Egypt or Syria because Palestine was included of all those territories at various points. But all this is silly because they don’t control Palestine atm

Mm so then follow up question, does Palestine not want Lebanon for any specific reason or just like nah

There isn’t a unified Palestine there the PA in the West Bank and Hamas in Gaza then there’s a bunch of Palestinian refugees that are all over the region and have been in there host countries for some time. I think Palestinian have no real chance of taking over an Arab country, mostly because they don’t border one other than Egypt. That and if they even attempted they would quickly alienate themselves and lose a lot of legitimacy.
