Your boss orders you to clean the bathroom, a task that carries $10 of value. Upon completion, he pays you $3, and keeps the remaining $7- oh! capitalism. this person is describing capitalism.

A task can’t carry an objective value, value is subjective. The only reason you cleaned the bathroom is because you believe that your paycheck is worth more than your time.

Yes the value is subjective but you consent to work for a given amount of time for a given amount of money. If someone agreed to give you 10$ and didn’t you could sue them. Also you are selling your labor to someone else. You are not entitled to the full value of the task unless that is what both parties agreed to.

Yes you don’t have to sell your labor to others. You can use your labor to make a product that others want or you can farm your own food and build your own house instead of buying it. You are also not entitled to other peoples labor and bodies unless they consent.

If your “alternative” to selling your labor is so easy why don’t you do it

It’s not easy. Selling your labor is more time and resource effective because you can’t be good at everything and you have specialized in certain skills. It allows for large scale corporation while still maintaining individual consent. Before there were civilizations people survived based on their own and a few other peoples labor around them.
