I just looked this up and the cop who did it was refusing to provide any identification after shooting the dog and refusing to help while he bled out, and the other cops there helped hide the officer. It happened September 9th and there is an investigation opening into it but I doubt it will go anywhere. That’s so fucked

They kept the dog in a separate room (I think they said bathroom) and the officer opened the door to that room and shot the dog while the owner had left for a moment to grab his ID. The owners had the dog separate for this exact reason and they shot him anyway. All of this over one call on a tip line saying they were smuggling migrants. They found no evidence of that while there.

I’m not even white but I’m susceptible to this 😭 I think it’s desensitization from so many people being killed that you rarely hear about animals being shot

Oh definitely, there is also a name for people having a stronger emotional response to animals dying than humans.
