Umberto Eco outlined 14 warning signs of ‘Ur-Fascism’ like a cult of tradition, fear of difference, scapegoating minorities, obsession with enemies, contempt for weakness, and attacks on truth. Many of these traits, demonizing marginalized groups, spreading conspiracies, undermining democratic institutions, and controlling narratives, are increasingly showing up in the U.S. today. Denying this is stupid because Eco identified this decades ago and they are ALLLLL PRESENT.
