Like instead of having a $150,000 salary with $100,000,000 in company stocks, make it so if they wanna still earn hundreds of millions, they have to pay themselves that upfront and let the public see how much they’re *really* earning

I think that’s a little extreme personally, but I agree we need to patch the fuck out of the billionaire tax loopholes. Make it so they’re limited to 10% of their income can be from company stocks or smn.

Nah we should just tax them into non existence. There is zero ZERO reason for anyone to have a billion dollars. This half measure wouldn’t be more than an annoyance for them. They’d just stop caring about hiding behind stocks. And then the exact same issues would persist.

I mean, people who started companies that have a ton of value I get them “being” that rich Like if I started my own company, own 51% of it so that I have the majority power of my own company, then it grows to $10B, I’m technically worth $5B. People shouldn’t be forced out of their own companies just because they do well. But, that said, they should still be limited on how much that initial holding can grow

There’s next to no moral way to be a billionaire. Billionaires shouldn’t exist.

What if you start a company from the ground up, like OpenAI, and it grows to be valued in the billions? If you hold a majority stake, you’d be a billionaire. Would you sacrifice the company you started? Once you get below 50% of the company, you’ll no longer have a say in how it’s run. An outside group can come in and turn your company into something far worse than you built it

Like I’m all for getting rid of billionaires, but we’d need to readjust how businesses are structured. Forcing people to sell off their own creations will destroy every industry if we don’t do it with a clear plan first.

In that circumstance you make a few of the stocks into “managing” stocks, making it so they can own a minute part of the company’s monetary shares while also having large control.

Even with a large company, billion dollar companies only get to be valued that high with undercutting of some sort. Mostly through legal tax evasion and underpaying/abuse of workers. So no, still next to no way of being a billionaire morally.

ownership and control isn't that simple. there are different classes of shares, for example, that have 10x the voting power. that's why mark zuckerfuck will control facebook until he dies or gives it up - because he owns the majority of class B shares at facebook. there are means and methods for owning and operating without being disgustingly rich. you're fantasizing about being disgustingly rich and not wanting to be taxed to make excuses for people who exploit millions of people. why?
