Culture is shared beliefs, customs, practices, and social behavior of a particular group of people. Pop Culture is a sub section of culture. We have pop culture. We do not have a deep imbedded history of cultural culture.
I hate when people say America has no culture. Bruh we maybe have more culture than any other country. The entire world watches Hollywood movies and listened to Michael Jackson and drinks Coca cola. Smd

Yes we do. Just because it’s not uniform between 340 million people doesn’t mean we don’t have culture. States, cities, communities, etc. all have unique cultures wherever you look across the country. And I think certainly the case could be made that we generally have shared beliefs, cuisine, etc. Sports like baseball, football, basketball, etc. are also a shared pastime for a lot of Americans. The US absolutely has culture

Exactly as #2 said. We have culture. Have you ever traveled across the country? Notice how each state is different? They each have unique culture and norms. The Amish for one, that’s a unique culture. New Orleans is a very unique culture. Texas is most definitely home to a lot of culture. I could go on. Some may lack a long history, but that doesn’t discount the culture aspect.

So past times are included in culture, sports would also have to be unique to us in order to count for this. what are examples of beliefs that we have, same for practices and other things like that

Well I disagree entirely that it “has to be unique to the US.” It’s completely unfair considering our culture is literally exported worldwide. All of those sports were created in the US. And globally, soccer is a huge part of many cultures even though that’s also not unique to any one country. And I would say comparatively to most other countries, Americans are rather fond of their personal freedoms and we have a rather capitalistic, consumerist culture. We like things quick and cheap,

American culture is different from cultures in America. America’s Culture is Cultural Diversity, it does not stand alone in having any culture. Texas has culture, Califonia, North Dakota. All these places in the US have culture that's not a debate. It’s a question of is there a uniquely american culture that unites us all. And the answer is not really

e.g. fast food and fast fashion. There is a pretty common belief of “the American dream” of buying a home, raising a family, etc. I also think cuisine is a humongous part of our culture. Regionally there’s tons of diversity in cooking styles generally depending on the history of the people who lived there. The New York area is heavily influenced by Italian culture, California has a lot of Hispanic culture, the South is largely influenced by African American and Creole people.

which is why we don’t have culture. We are a melting pot of other countries culture. When you compare the way most countries treat soccer vs how we treat our favorite sports it’s not even close. Other countries sports are their entire personality sometimes. The bottom half is correct. American culture is freedom, capitalism, consumerism. Yet we aren’t the most free country. So buying things is american culture.

The american dream hasn’t been a thing for 20 years. No one lives the american dream anymore. Regional cultures are not national cultures. And you are naming other countries ciltures. We have plenty of culture in America, we are the most culturally diverse country in the world and it’s not even close. But we do not have a unique culture on our own.

But Italian American culture is not Italian culture, Chinese American culture is not Chinese culture, African American culture is not African culture, etc. etc. Each of those groups in the United States developed their own cultures over time that are distinct from the countries they or their families came from. That doesn’t mean all those people have no culture or tradition. And you don’t think there’s a large amount of people in the South who live and die for college football? Hell I’m from

Philly and there are people who would probably actually kill you over the Eagles. You keep changing the goalposts on what can be culture just to insist Americans don’t have any.

Do you actually think India or China which are countries of over 1 billion people just have one distinct way of life that everyone lives by? Even countries much smaller than that have regional differences. You’re just choosing to be incredibly obtuse

Hinduism a value very specific to india is a very very important part of their culture. Shared belief, custom, etc China has Confucianism and Lunar Tradition to name two. both pretty well unified across the country, distinct cultural elements tied specifically to those nations. those nations are not melting pots they are very distinct cultural traditions that occur across the entire nation.

you don’t need 1000 years to have culture, culture can quite LITERALLY be anything, and believe it or not, we have stuff in america so there is a culture. walk into a bar in your local sports city and compare it to the pubs across the ocean and tell me it’s the same, that is a very small thing but it’s cultureeeee the fuckkkkkk. i hate how the right is like “uhhhh our culture is being white and treason and whatever” but i hate the lefts “we stole this land so we don’t deserve culture” like stfuu

subculture is also a part of culture, american pop culture is quite literally different from european pop culture, how is that not culture?? just because we don’t. have architecture you find cool like europe doesn’t mean that the admit lane architecture isn’t our culture, but further more every decent sized city has a city hall or some governmental building, and they are all pretty cool, there’s mini washington dc buildings. i’m from cleveland, the bank and library have some damn cool design imo

Hinduism isn’t specific to India and it’s not the only religion practiced there. Some regions are largely Muslim, Sikh, or Christian. China “has Confucianism” probably to a similar extent that the US “has Christianity” as a set of religious/moral beliefs. About 90% of the US celebrates Christmas. The cultures of those countries are not at all uniform and to say that is just a demonstration of your ignorance
