Sorry yeah, I was really lazy and not born into millions on millions of dollars. It really is my fault for not inheriting capital from my parents, I should have worked harder. Over 60% of us live paycheck to paycheck, but we should pull ourselves up by our bootstraps! Why are you defending a system that does nothing for you? Are you a billionaire? Are you a landlord? Do you own any capital at all? Do you benefit from this in any way whatsoever? If not, please consider supporting your class
Friend, I am glad you’re doing well. Still, I implore you to take a close look at this economic system we live under. If it is truly a great system, it will hold up to scrutiny. I ask you these things: what would happen to companies’ hiring prospects if everyone was housed and employed? Why are so many of us one medical emergency away from homelessness? How do billionaires acquire their wealth? Does this system actually reward merit?
On the other hand, this system does not reward merit on its basest level. Consider the geographic lottery. I was born in the United States. Because of this, I can work, get an education, and get a high-paying job. Now consider someone of my exact same skill born in the Congo. Their opportunities are very different from mine. They work just as hard, but they don’t get the same opportunities as I do. If the system strictly rewarded merit, this would not happen. However, luck plays a huge role
I am not asking you to believe me now. If you value merit as you say, please consider investigating the systems we live under from a critical perspective. If they have merit, they will hold up to the most intense of questions. If they don’t hold water, you might need to seek an alternative.
