as a former 911 operator you NEVER know what the victim of a crime was going through mentally. a lot of the time they’re in denial or they don’t understand. their memory was cloudy and they remembered pieces two weeks later, etc.

you can judge her all you want but i’ve noticed the people judging her are not judging the men who ALSO engaged in this behavior. and mind you having sex with someone who is incapacitated, even if she SAID it was consensual, is rape.

These people have never been a victim of an interpersonal crime. They’ve had their car hit, maybe they were robbed, or randomly assaulted, at most they’ve seen or experienced domestic violence. But when you are the victim of a crime that involved emotional connection with the perpetrator, where you probably don’t understand or want to believe it happened, your brain does strange things. But people even report robberies way after the fact, people report witnessing a crime way after the action.

Humans are fallible, either way, what those men did was incredibly wrong and cruel of them. The community that gave those children alcohol are wrong, the people who knew about it were in the wrong. I’m sure the frat house has rules, even if they’re just there for legal reasons, those men broke laws and behaved in ways that should not be allowed on a college campus. End of story. Jane Doe deserves her justice, whatever that be for her.
