You can’t. Certain religious groups like the Amish that oppose insurance benefits can file to opt out. And filing doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll get approved

Technically, bc there’s a religious exemption form basically for the Amish lol. But you have to get an official religious leader to sign off and the irs has to approve the religious group provides enough for its members in accordance with a 70 year old law bc obviously you get zero social security benefits if you opt out

I reckon I qualify for the religious exemption. (Long story) Also mighty prideful for the government to think they are the arbitrator’s of who is and is not religiously exempt from things as if they have the righteous high ground to be the one who judges such things.

Coworkers just straight up leave the country and our industry is so niche the American government still hires them regardless of which flag flies near their house. I don’t imagine they will want to waste resources bickering over whatever they think I owe after we’ve seen what DOGE uncovered. But alas, you’re right, the whole process is unnecessary arduous.

They just don’t let you opt out of benefits unless your religious institution can actually replace them. They’re not gonna let you opt out of social services unless you have a real replacement. Bc in 50 years down the line when you need Medicare and can’t afford your meds yourself you’re going to blame the government for denying you access not yourself at 20 years old opting out

I’m going to have to either join/make my own Amish community aren’t I… sigh. We already have the ball rolling among my friends aiming towards being 90s Amish. (Flip phones, low tech gas vehicles, desktop computers, etc)

Like don’t get me wrong there’s still a ton of cool stuff, but they bought off on pushing economic problems on the next generation waaaay too much now each country has their own issues with things falling into disrepair.
