I mean the US military does still regularly patrol American waters +the coast guard is uniquely known for mostly just helping DHS during peacetime- search & rescue, oil spills, stopping drug trafficking..

But yes I agree majority of military are ultimately offensive. We have a Doctrine of Deterrence via PEACE THROUGH STRENGTH which is inherently more offensive then defensive

Are you implying that was intentional? A former coworker was a part of that operation and he wasn’t an active service member. The weight of that mistake can be dispersed.
