But they are in it for the money. That’s just the reality of the world. You can wish it wasn’t the case all you want, but the reason people put themselves through med school, residency, and fellowships is to have the ability to make a ton of money. I’m sorry but that’s the difficult truth.

No, they're not [all]. I would argue at least half of them aren't, and more than that in other countries. This may be hard for you to believe, but some people just enjoy helping other people. :)

Ok sure. Yeah I’m the selfish one for acknowledging that people don’t all operate based on benevolence alone but rather their own personal goals.

People operating on their personal goals is how we get to where we are today, where we have billionaires hoarding the wealth of our entire nation at the top, while working class people are slaving away. If medical school wasn't so expensive, a lot more people operating out of the goodness of their heart would do it. And if it wasn't so expensive, doctors wouldn't need to be paid exorbitant salaries to make up for it.

2/ And if that were the case, doctors would be mostly comprised of people who do it out of the goodness of their heart. Like in Cuba, where they have more doctors per capita than anywhere else in the world, because becoming a doctor there doesn't ruin you financially.

3/ The fix is making student loans illegal and subsidizing tuition, even putting a cap on it if necessary. Education should not be something most institutions do for a profit.
