OPM released a memo saying telework is acceptable for religious accommodations, but NOT for anything else. Blatant double-standard BS.

I’m not sure how this is a double standard tbh. But I’m not entirely sure what religious reason would prevent you from working in person

The Office of Personnel Management said in the memo: "Telework is often a low-cost solution that aligns with the Groff standard, as on a limited basis, it does not impose substantial operational burdens." Essentially, gov't employees can do telework to avoid commuting times that get in the way of preparations for religious services and nothing else.

Ohhh I see. But where is the double standard? Unless others in the government are working from home for non-religious reasons?

The "Groff standard" refers to the 2023 SC case Groff v. DeJoy, SC ruling made it harder for federal and non-federal businesses from denying religious accommodations.

When working in a government agency you often have to live closer to the office where it's based or be able to commute that distance, but that isn't doable for everyone, especially if you have a family or other preoccupations in life. Allowing workers the ability to work from home allows them to still meet those needs in life, but Trump put an end to the Biden admin's campaign pushing for telework across the gov't.

Yeah, I definitely see that. And remote work is something many people are looking for atm, so when you prevent that, you’re limiting your talent pool. And DC rent isn’t cheap either
