“How do people sympathize with a smaller country that was invaded over an imperial megastate run by an autocrat that would make Stalin green with envy like genuinely”

Because Russia is one of the biggest threats to European and global security and supporting a proxy to weaken them is in our best interest.

I’m not really a pro Ukraine guy but, Russia did invade them and displace millions of people and has killed like a million people so far… it’s hard to make the case for pretending everything is cool

NATO and the US are the aggressors. Not Russia. Russia is defending itself from western aggression. The only path forward is de escalation and allowing Ukrainian citizens sovereignty

NATO has never deliberately bombed civilian targets, infrastructure, or mass murdered civilians like Russia has. Ukraine is not a perfect state, not a perfect representation of democracy, but they are the clear victim in this war and the leading power in countering Russian aggression

This isn’t up for debate. NATO expansion occurred in response to Russian aggression, vulnerable countries joined the alliance out of fear of Russia. NATO has never once attacked Russia, while Russia is currently attacking Ukraine, invaded Georgia, occupies Moldova, and threatens NATO daily

absolutely, Ukraine is functionally a proxy state between the US and Russia; the Ukrainian population is getting fucked over. the thing is it’s crazy as fuck for OP to act as if Russia is merely “defending itself” while trying to colonize the nation. we can acknowledge that the Ukrainian population is being opportunistically exploited by our nation without inadvertently defending Russia’s attempts at the same (and more) an imperialism face-off, if I may🙃

The coalition during desert storm was not NATO led. Yes many countries were a part of NATO, but that doesn’t mean NATO led it. You are denying literal facts by pushing false claims that Operation Desert Storm was nato led

De escalation begins when Russia withdraws entirely from Ukraine. The US arguably should increase military aid so the war can end sooner, since currently the US is sending just enough aid for Ukraine to perpetually fight and keep Russia weak as long as possible, which I’m entirely against. The quicker Ukraine wins the war and kicks out Russian imperialists the sooner conscription and civilian death ends.

Ukrainians want to not be invaded and slaughtered by an imperialist aggressor. Therefore war would end tomorrow if Russia went home, and I’m sure you’re smart enough to know that appeasement of an aggressor only leads to more aggression. So what’s the issue?

so Russia annexing crimea was self defense? need I remind you that the majority of ukraines parliament voted in approval of the EU-Ukraine agreement, and after the president at the time (viktor yanukovych) refused to sign it, widespread protests began which inevitably resulted in parliament voting to remove yanukovych and reinstate the former constitution. I said you’re glazing Putin because you’re regurgitating the state-sponsored position of Russia in this imperial war.

1/? Look into Stepan bandera, his connection to and support of Hitler, and his efforts to ethnically cleanse ethnic minorities in the Ukraine through the OUN-B. How he committed a holocaust there, killing 100k ethnic minorities. How post WW2, the US imported a lot of these Nazis to set up the UCCA. These former Nazis and the US then helped to foster Nazi ideology in the Ukraine starting with Reagan (ofc). However at the time Ukraine was much more aligned with Russia post Soviet collapse.

2/? The US ofc could not accept this and devised a plan to interfere in elections and gov to have Ukraine much more aligned with the US. Look into the US backed color revolution attempt, the orange revolution. Full of election tampering and western propaganda. Funded by the NED ofc and reaching its peak in 2010. After the Ukrainian pres, Yanukovych, signed a trade deal that was advantageous to Russia instead of the west, the Nazi bandera inspired azov battalion came into play.

3/? Aka Banderites. Who wanted to rid Ukraine of ethnic Russians, forming an alliance with the US. The US even brought these Nazis here to train and arm them. Bc these Nazis aren’t exactly a good look for them, they integrated them into the official army to disperse them and couped the Ukrainian gov. How these Nazis entered ethnic Russian neighborhoods to terrorize and attempt to expel them.

4/ How these majority ethnic Russian regions ASKED Russia to let them into Russia bc they were worried about their safety. How the US again intervened & didn’t allow the Donbas region to be accepted into Russia. How Russia relented and said “we can’t let you in but we’ll support your independence movement if you want to become your own country”. The Donbas region wanted to secede & become its own country. How NATO was then pointing missles outside of Russia, aimed at Moscow.

5/? How Russia spent several years trying to use to diplomacy with NATO, expressing their disapproval. But the US ofc can’t let this happen. Ukraine joining NATO would just be another missile pointing at Moscow. Only 500km away. How Russia then asks to be a part of NATO in an effort to deescalate and have the missiles pointed at them removed. Ofc the US again refuses to negotiate. With all things considered, the Russia concedes that all these elements are pointing to an act at war

6/6 They tried to negotiate and were rejected so they had to acknowledge “okay, I guess we’re at war now” And finally how Israel was literally arming Ukraine at the outbreak of the war. Hopefully that gives you a good start of things to look into

that military escalation with no clear path of deescalation leads to the same global conflict that appeasement did, it was actually appeasement of said militarization that led to it, but yes, let’s fund the military more. $1.5 trillion by 2028, and $2 trillion by 2029! so we can send more missiles at Iran, supply “israel” with bombs and munitions, and so Ukrainians can muster just enough force to keep fighting but never succeed. what a lovely world
