I don’t know what are reliable news sources for what’s happening in Gaza, is the times of Israel good? If so I’ll go read about it on there

Dismantling Hamas was also a major objective of the war……you know because they invaded Israel? That warrants a response

I can’t remember their bias tbh. I know Haaretz is somewhat left-leaning but I don’t remember the others 😅 TOI is a mainstream source though. This article is from a while ago

The quote is from the family members of one of the hostages

i think they’re good for israeli points of view on things, like you’ll definitely find facts there. +972 magazine does investigative stuff, and drop site news tends to report on a lot of things on the genocide and also some domestic things.

Hamas and Hezbollah have said this doesn’t end until every jew is dead. That’s genocidal language and warrants a campaign to dismantle that government of Gaza

Toi is a propaganda outlet, so the fact they’re saying this speaks volumes. If you want a more accurate reading of news there read the AP

Then Israel should have stopped using the hostages as PR props. Many are dead because of Israel’s refusal to negotiate

Riiiight. Any comment on the public executions taking place right now in the streets of Gaza as Israel has withdrawn? Why would the people who are claiming genocide kill their own people?

Why the sudden switch up? If you seriously want to know, it’s concerning. But it’s also complicated by the fact that Israel is now arming ISIS and al-Qaeda affiliates to take out Hamas, which is a colossally stupid idea. I hope they are not ordinary citizens. But this is still not the widespread starvation and bombing that has been happening for years anyway

the people who claim genocide are killing the people who they claim collaborated with the genociders

You can’t negotiate with people who have no regard for human life. Israel cared about the hostages but they had a bigger problem on their plate and that was the genocidal militant group that invaded them.

There is plenty of intel whenever aid flows into Gaza Hamas seizes a pretty good portion of it. All the photos of starving children won’t move Hamas. The only way they will eat is whatever aid Hamas doesn’t steal. Hamas has done nothing but played a huge propaganda campaign to paint Israel as the enemy and people in this country bought it.

Right because that’s a totally reasonable level headed response. Is Israel currently carrying out public executions in the streets? I’m just curious? Any Arabs getting shot in the streets of Israel right now?

If the bigger problem was Hamas, then they should have been up front with the families and told them that the hostages were not the top priority. They lied to them

No, the IDF is too busy shooting fathers that run to the dead bodies of their freshly killed children

Well at the end of the day Israel said fine we will end the war and ended up releasing more Palestinian prisoners than they got back. It’s amazing how Hamas handed over dead hostages and Israel handed over several alive ones.

Ok fine if it happened shame on them. Still doesn’t take an expert to look at both sides and realize who are the good guys. Arabs can live in peace in Israel. In Gaza? They can’t. A country committing a genocide would not allow mosques to be built in their country.

Fine. War causes people to commit indefensible acts. Nobody has ever been perfect in war. But it’s a slippery slope to criticize the forces trying to eliminate hamas. We can have conversations about how the IDF conducts business when it isn’t fighting a genocidal force that no country wants to deal with. We can have those discussions when the fog of war isn’t upon us

“Nobody has ever been perfect” mf we’re looking at a war with a civilian casualty rate that’s significantly worse than the US’ invasion of Iraqi cities. 20 years later. That’s not just not perfect, that’s negligent and cheap *at best*. “It’s a slippery slope to criticize the forces trying to eliminate Hamas” are you saying I can’t criticize ISIS now? Because that’s who Israel is arming

upvote 1 downvote

Anonymous replying to -> OP 3w

That’s inconclusive. Hamas uses human shields of course the casualty rate is going to be high. Hamas wants their civilians to die at the hands of Israel because it helps their propaganda which shifts opinion.

That’s not a defense. The US took out Ayman Al-Zawahiri while leaving everyone else in his house still alive, and the house was intact except for that room. In another instance they killed a specific person in a car and the other passengers were fine. There is no excuse for a civilian casualty rate worse than Iraq when 20 years have passed for technology to improve

For high value targets sure but what about the militants walking the streets or hiding in hospitals and schools with weapons caches? Israel told people to evacuate areas they were conducting operations in. Israel dropped pamphlets. If Israel told Hamas to tell people to evacuate do you think they would have told them anything? Nope you know why? Because Hamas told civilians to stay put and told them to ignore Israel’s commands.

Israel seems to keep misunderstanding international law. It doesn’t matter if you drop pamphlets or send texts. You do not bomb hospitals unless you make sure civilians are out. Considering IDF troops were on the ground, it’s bizarre that some of the hospitals were not evacuated. They should have taken every effort to secure civilian lives

They never even used those missiles on high value targets. They took out entire refugee camps for one target. Why?

That’s easy for you to say when your neighbor isn’t threatening to kill you and hiding weapons in schools and hospitals to eventually kill you with. Time is of the essence. Hamas does this by design. They won’t care if six children are incinerated by an airstrike in a room full of RPGs and AK-47s

That has nothing to do with what I said. You either evacuated the civilians or you don’t bomb the hospital. It’s pretty simple

It would be simple if the radical Islamic militant group you know just……didn’t put weapons in the hospitals at all….you know because that’s not a normal thing to do?

I know, and it’s unfortunate that they’re doing that. But it doesn’t mean you can fucking bomb a hospital. I’m not sure what’s so difficult to understand about that

With all due respect, I don’t think you’re all that familiar with either urban warfare or international law. Under the Geneva conventions, anything—be it a school, a hospital, or a mosque—becomes a legitimate military target whenever it’s used in a military capacity. Hamas used Al-Ahli Arab Hospital Explosion as ground zero for its rocket artillery, and Israel responded accordingly. Even then, Israel still gave civilians a heads up to flee and used bunker busters targeting Hamas’ tunnel system.

Cite the part of the Geneva conventions that says that. Because that’s not my recollection of what it says.

Article 12(2), AP I: “Protection to medical units shall not cease unless they are used to commit, outside their humanitarian duties, acts harmful to the enemy. In such case, they lose their protection for such time as they are used to commit such acts.”
