You create the most inflammatory possible motivations to try to dehumanize Metcalf as much as possible. Do you have any evidence that he was racist? That his actions were motivated by racism? Or do you just decide that so you can justify his death. Do you decide that based only on the races of those involved, that one must be in the right and the other in the wrong.
I do not hate black people at all. The facts are that Karmelo was not competing at the track meet, he was skipping class, he was under the tent of a school he didn’t go to taking a seat from those who were supposed to be there. He was asked to leave and responded by stabbing someone. If he was white I’d say he was wrong if he was Asian I’d say he was wrong, shit If he was from mars I’d say he was wrong.
I find fighting etiquette to be very simple. Avoid getting in a fight whenever possible. It isn’t worth it. If one begins, the priority is getting the fuck out of there. If you can’t get out of there, immobilize them non-fatally. It’s a great system. Means I don’t catch a murder charge. I got in school fights. Always ended with pinning someone to the ground because who tf stabs another high schooler in the chest.
Metcalf shouldn’t have shoved him. That was stupid and unnecessary. Coulda tried to get him charged for assault, or get him suspended. There’s legal consequences to minor forms of escalation too. But fatal stabbings tend to lead to more severe legal consequences than shoves.
My point was not to defend Metcalf. I was refuting you seemingly believe the normal reasonable response to getting shoved is stabbing someone to death. And you seemingly expected me to respond in that manner in your hypothetical. Which frankly I just find concerning. “I would escalate a minor physical altercation to a fatal stabbing” isn’t like some tough guy flex that just points to therapy being needed.
