The problem is, ICE doesn’t really care. There have been several cases of legal immigrants being deported without due process.

I’ve also had a tendency to arrest immigrants with zero criminal backgrounds. ALSO, recently it was deemed ok for ICE to make arrests based on skin color.

ICE can’t legally detain citizens at all. And yet they do. And they’ll hold you without due process until the statute of limitations is up so you can’t even sue them for it! (this has happened many times before the current gestapo style rein we have now so god knows how often it’s happening now too)

If they have reasonable suspicion to believe that someone illegally crossed the border then yes they can detain/arrest that person. Usually with feds they get looser definitions of reasonable suspicion but they still cannot arrest without it.

Apologies, they need probable cause to make an arrest not reasonable suspicion. I got the two mixed up.

No! They cannot actually! They can only detain people who have been identified under an administrative warrant, or may detain non-citizen who have failed to follow section 262 of the INA (non citizens must carry required documentation) only for questioning (not arrest). Now the issue here is. Citizens are not required to carry documentation. So when asked by ice to display it, they don’t have it, because they don’t have to, and ice illegally detains them

ICE can arrest without warrants if they have probable cause the suspect can flee before a warrant can be issued.

Can you give names or instances of legal immigrants being actually deported?

Ice doesn’t need criminal charges to arrest illegal immigrants. Illegally overstaying your visa is illegal and grounds for deportation. ALSO you’re just making things up.

And notice, only brown people are assumed to flee. It’s never the Canadians who overstayed their visa’s or the German’s who applied for the wrong vacation papers

Stop, you have no evidence of that. It just so happens that most immigrants, legal or illegal are from Latin American countries.

We aren’t talking about what population makes up the most amount of illegal immigrants, we’re talking about who ICE deems flight risks. And shockingly, only deem brown people flight risks (even the ones that are “racially white” on paper, but just don’t look white enough, like people from Yemen and Türkiye. Oh a black immigrants make up 25% of all abuse claims despite only being 4% of the population in detention. But yeah no racist undertones there

No like this is what the statistic is measuring, you do know ICE still takes care of crimes related to legal immigration right? Only lately they’ve been going beyond their scope!

Deportation arrests aren’t a criminal offense it’s a civil matter. You don’t need a criminal conviction to be arrested and deported
