Random ass policy thought: Ban market trading for all Senators while in office. Give them salaries of $1,000,000 a year as well as free federal housing in both their states(this might be more state housing like a governors mansion) and DC.

Down for it if it makes them less likely to run to lobbyists for money

Isn’t the whole point of public service, that you serve the public? That you shouldn’t enrich yourself from the job? Part of the issue in politics is people want to get into politics to make money rather than to do good for other people

It’s not exactly the highest order. They’re currently making six figures in salary for half a year of work, I don’t feel the need to bump that up to seven.

If you want to ban stock trading and heavily restrict lobbying exits, compensation has to be high enough that only independently wealthy people aren’t the only viable candidates.

why not put a cap on campaign finances based on the type of position? Also, yes in favor of banning stock trading, idk if lobbying can be banned tho bc of the 1st Amendment

They’re making more than most of the country, it’s absolutely a livable wage?

You claimed they worked half of the year when that’s clearly not true.
