I fear it’s going to get shoehorned into literally everything within the next 5 years. But sometimes they’ll just slap an “AI inside” label on something that isn’t actually what the layman considers to be AI

Like I’m seeing ads for AI-enabled chargers. All that’s probably happening is the chip in your phone tells the charger “I’m XYZ device, give me this current” and later is like “ok slow down now” 💀

What’s annoying is my dad thinks stuff like that is so cool. He loves all these things and insists they’re great when 99% are just inventing a problem, making things more complicated than they need to be, or saving you 0.5 seconds every once in a while

I mean it is cool and good (charging at high speed with a near-full battery can shorten the lifespan) but I think the technology came out with the USB-C cable. It’s not really AI unless you’re using the “agent responds autonomously to its environment” definition (which would include cruise control in your car)

It will. And then something else will come around and they force THAT into everything too. It’s all they know how to do. E-blank, smart blank, cloud blank, ar blank, vr blank, blank algorithm, blockchain blank, protein blank, ai blank. It pisses me off, honestly.
