Theft prevention? Track your spending habits to sell data to advertisers for targeted marketing? I’m not in favor, just giving some ideas as to why.

Dynamic pricing, aka a scam to charge as much as possible for each individual person.

Is this satire or are you going to some futuristic grocery store because everything at every store I go to has a set price that’s the same for everyone

Also I mean if they made billionaires pay $100 for a gallon of milk I wouldn’t mind

The price tags look like this, a lot like the paper ones, but they work like a kindle screen, so a lot of people don’t even notice. They’re not rolled out everywhere yet though, because they have to collect the data first before they even work.

Companies aren’t ever going to charge less. At the very least they’ll charge the same, but that’s doubtful.

If they increase prices drastically above the board for the entire population, including mfs with $200 in their bank account like myself they’re going to lose literally all of their business

It is not hard for the average American to go to a local convenience store instead of big supermarkets like target and walmart

They’re all gonna do it, and in 90% of America, your grocery options are as follows: -Walmart -Dollar General -IGA -“Local” chain that’s actually owned by Kroger

I don't think you understand. It sets a precedent. They're taking jobs. People used to change the paper strips. The average price of goods is going to be jacked up.

Regardless you both have no idea how it actually works and are just tinfoil hatting. They’re using it to lower the costs of perishables as they’re about to expire, not scanning the face of every customer and illegally accessing their bank account information so they can price gouge everyone

You do realize the people who change the paper strips are the same people who stock the shelves right?

Id love to see some hard evidence that people are paying higher prices for goods than others. Get a rich friend send em in and have them buy a pack of twinkies and then compare your receipts

Also, this is factual, it’s not somebody espousing an opinion in that particular piece. Opinion pieces can be opinions, but they never publish falsehoods.

This is one of those things where the evidence is right there. It wouldn't change anything for you to oppose it, but yet until you're effected by it you won't care.

I think this is a good explanation of America right now. We're explaining to him how dynamic pricing is going to hurt him in the long run and him changing his opinion wouldn't hurt anything, and yet he would rather just pay more for the same stuff.
