Massachusetts is probably the most liberal state, but California gets all the criticism from conservatives. Why is that? Is it because Massachusetts is generally very educated and has the highest HDI in the US?

Minus cost of living. Massachusetts is a very expensive place to live. It may be worth the cost, but it’s very expensive to live in Massachusetts
