Mb got sucked into a conversation w someone irl and didn’t see this. Yeah there are required steps of hajj that take a week, prob some of the most commonly known are circumambulating the Kaaba, wearing simple white garments like everyone else, and spending your time praying in reflection of God

Well I used to be catholic, and studied various religions before getting to where I’m at now, I just find Islam to be true and helpful in bringing my life to peace personally

Well there are two views among scholars, with the more popular and currently controversial that she was younger where she was betrothed to marry at 6 with consummation happening between 9-12 depending on the reports. And then the other view is that she was actually 19 at the age of consummation. To tackle on the more controversial view I’d say it’s just a fallacy of presentism where people apply modern supposedly moral frameworks on to the past as though they’re truisms

A lot of people have hated Islam and the prophet peace be upon him, have published entire books of lies regarding him and the religion since the time of revelation itself. 1400 years. Not one person criticized the prophet pbuh for this until the last hundred years or so, and they criticized him for things they even made up. So that’s 1300 years of no one really caring or viewing it as odd enough to polemicize. Why? Probably bc it was normal back then. The only people that fixated on this age

Issue historically prior to modern shifts in views were Muslim scholars themselves, and only for scholastic reasons of wanting to be right about history lol. My great great grandfather got married when he was 16, people lived fundamentally different lives back then. Regardless of Aisha RA’s age, Muslims don’t approach the ability for one to marry through arbitrary ages, it’s based on physical/mental/legal/social acceptability standards so if the first view is the correct one that doesn’t mean

You marry someone that young. We live in a modern world with ac and healthcare and cars, the context is fundamentally different either way. Yeah that’s a crash course on how I explain it and have these convos w my non Muslim friends abt it
