This is a great way to reduce the supply of housing and raise housing prices.

I’m against strict zoning laws in general, but there should not be a time where the government is allowing a residential property to be bought and rezoned for commercial use. Unless 1- the home is unlivable and condemned and the community has an active need for the commercial use or 2- due to surrounding development it is unsafe/unreasonable to have a home there (like a house off a major highway intersection where they couldn’t pull out of their driveway bc of traffic, for example)

Like a perfectly wonderful home should not be purchased by a gas station when there’s 8 gas stations within a quarter of a mile

Safety based zoning laws are fine, and environmental protection, but “beautification” zoning laws are bullshit. Any law that sounds like Beatrice at the HOA came up with it is bullshit

You choosing to live next to a business is a bit different than your neighbor of 9 years deciding to sell their land commercially for an extra couple thousand dollars so your towns 14th McDonald’s can be built

My neighbors are like a mile down the road, a McDonalds there would be nice and I would be a regular patron but probably not a smart or practical business decision.
