I lowkey might just be dumb because I’m not super well read on the pros and cons of lobbying but I think it might be one of the biggest issues that no one talks about.

youre spot on. lobbying is singlehandedly the biggest threat to democracy, it keeps us from having a say, money buys policy now not votes

The problem isn’t lobbying itself but campaign finance. Lobbying is just convincing politicians to act in a certain way, it could be progressive causes. It’s a bit of a pedantic difference but yeah.

I think a good question is: can you think of any policy that is very popular that is not passed because of lobbying

No I agree, I *think* I have read in the past that lobbying has some pros in that it allows for specialized knowledge to inform politicians like Green energy lobby groups as well as providing bargain chips for marginalized communities that want to promote issues in their community. I agree the campaign financing is also a major issue. I think generally, that politicians should not be making more money than the median salary of their constituency. At least and especially at the federal level.

they say that, but lobbying comes down to who gives the most money, and the most corrupt businesses and people always have the most money, and the most to benefit from lobbying
