So how is saying (multiple times) that you're going to be blatantly biased towards denying all legislation from 60% of your government legal or Democratic?

He's never cared about what's legal or democratic

How is vetoing something illegal? It’s like a core tenant of the president’s powers that all presidents have used

i mean that’ll just make the republicans more unpopular nationally, the actual insanity is the republicans at the state level in texas and ohio actively saying they’ll try and gut the governor elects power before they get into office

It’s legal because the constitution gives him that power

I think we’re gonna get a lot of Republican cooperation. They saw how unpopular Trump is and how close many of them (or their colleagues) came to losing their jobs and are gonna try hard to save face among their constituents. Especially in districts that were won by 5-10 points in 2022 and 2024

He said after the election that he would veto a lot until the sides are able to work together and get stuff done. I view it as a parent taking away her kids toy till they play nice

this is unfortunately the truth of the matter. and frankly a democrat president would do the same thing in a reverse situation. just because we don’t agree with it doesn’t make it illegal.

Yes, but the difference is, republicans are trying to pass things like the “kill all trans people act”, and democrats are trying to do things like raise the minimum wage

It’s troubling to me that you think a literal genocide is what it would take to be going too far. Trans people have been evicted from the military, costing them their livelihoods, they’ve been publicly demonized for crimes they aren’t responsible for as a group, they’ve had their access to healthcare restricted or put behind burdensome hoops, I mean we’ve had literal child genital inspection legislation passed in some states for fucking sports teams. It is a bad time to be trans in America
