There is literally no argument against free childcare. It’s not charity Even from the perspective of a heartless business person: if you want children to grow up into workers, if you want workers with kids to be available for you, you want childcare

You idiots roll over any time massive corporations get a bailout with your money and say it had to be done for the survival of the economy, but whenever that exact same investment is made for the lower classes, suddenly it’s not worth paying for? Even though we have tangible proof (the 2008 crisis vs the 2020 pandemic) that investing into the lower class is objectively more effective at stimulating the economy. You’re fucking brainwashed gullible fools.

Who’s providing it and who’s paying for it? It’s just transferring money from single income families that don’t pay for childcare to 2-income families that do

they’re not my children and i’m not responsible for them. that is more than enough argument for not wanting my money to subsidize that

They ARE your children. You live here, they’re your fellow countryman. They’re going to provide FOR YOU as they get older. Whether you know their names or not. The same way your taxes are paying or subsidizing your roads, clean water, functioning electricity, fucking soldiers, and even healthcare (despite the fact that you’re getting ripped off and not receiving the benefit you already pay for until you pay double out of pocket) If you don’t like that, then don’t live in a civilization

The same people who fund roads they don't drive and schools they don't attend. And those single-income families? Half of them are single-income because daycare costs more than a second paycheck. Free childcare isn't a transfer to them, it's the exit they can't afford. That's an investment, not charity. One of the definitions of economy health is based on how many people are working. You provide free childcare, that immediately leads to millions of people suddenly being able to work.

taxes should only be used for infrastructure and national defense. everything else is on the individual. that’s the society i long for

no public schools, health, or safety nets means an unskilled, sick, unstable workforce. Roads and armies still need educated engineers and healthy soldiers. Poverty breeds crime and unrest, and the state loses legitimacy.

And you don’t even have to believe me. The thought history, minimal taxes, without safety nets lead to child labor, typhoid from unregulated water, bank panics in 1873 and 1893, violent strikes like Haymarket and Pullman. The instability forced the Progressive Era's reforms.
