it’s so exhausting. everyone is keenly aware that the party divide is purposeful to create an endless supply of outrage, so pointing that out is corny. and cognitive dissonance makes debate worthless. i wish there was a way to meaningfully change that.

yeah. i think the internet is probably the worst thing to ever grace politics because of how we approach discussions online. it’s simple and addictive to engage with someone from your side making some snarky comment to the person they’re arguing with. i’m not a centrist by any means but i can absolutely acknowledge this is a huge problem on both sides of the spectrum. we allow our egos to inflate over this stuff and feel superior instead of actually making an effort to listen to our fellow human
