This is absolutely true. I DID speak out and all I got was trauma from the folks who were supposed to be there to protect and advocate for me. My rapist faced no consequences, even socially. Not only do rapists in this country tend to get off with light if any sentencing when they’re reported, victims are punished for speaking out.

Conceptually, yes (as in not just Diddy walking free but so many others do too). It’s very hard to get a conviction or even charges being made. Also, evidence wise, it’s best to report it right away but who wants to go in when you’re dealing with all that freaking physical and emotional trauma.
