There hasn’t been a formal declaration of war from Congress.

Obama using drone strikes to strategically target terrorist groups within a country is entirely different than directly attacking a sovereign country’s resources.

It won’t go on for more than 60 (maybe 90) days without Congress’s consent.

The DWB airstrike that everybody loves to refer to when bringing up that point was a mistake. The military and the administration owned up to that. The context around it is imperative to actually understanding the situation. Barack Obama did not order targeted strikes on civilian hospitals. I’m not even an Obama stan, but the fact this has to be explained to people is as alarming as Trump’s action.

He is the commander and chief of the military, it doesn’t matter what congress says. Congress only has the authority to declare war, trump and any president can bomb whoever the fuck he wants whenever he wants to because that’s his job. He’s not declaring war on iran he’s simply authorizing a bombing fully within his powers as president

ugh ok, the analogy i’ve heard is “for every room where Republicans are eating babies, Democrats are in the next room over putting babies on a plate” yeah Trump is even more aggressive. But Obama normalized and created the infrastructure for the drone wars. Biden set the stage for head-on war with Iran. US foreign policy is basically uniparty.

yeah this is bs. the RS article explains why Iran had good reason to be skeptical by August 2021, not least bc in April 2021, Israel attacked one of the same sites we bombed today bottom line: Trump unilaterally pulled America from the deal. Biden should’ve unilaterally re-entered the deal in January. His failure directly led to what’s happening now.

virtually every modern US president has unconstitutionally gone to war without Congressional approval, in violation of the War Powers Act. every modern US president has directly enabled war crimes. idk why the people arguing with #7 are confused here
