I would argue Andrew Jackson too. Reagan was terrible but maybe not bottom 5.

I get Buchanan and Johnson but what did Harding do? I don’t know enough about the guy, not even sure what time period he was

Why Trump

Not having Jackson, Biden, or Hoover on the list before putting Trump is crazy work

It was the early 1920s his presidency was plagued by scandals

Yea that was him, he basically filled all his govt positions with friends and family who engaged in fraud and embezzlement

Makes perfect sense then, I understand the placement

Broke the peaceful transfer of power for the first time ever, engaged in nepotism similar to Harding, weakened American institutions, engaged with and empowered fringe groups

Believe it or not historians have given Jackson relatively high marks

Or Pierce

Pierce would be literally right above these guys, like the 5th. Hoover would be next to him at 6th. Jackson historically has gotten kinda high scores but he’s moving down as his legacy sours

Biden I’d put with Carter in the “below-average” tier

Although you could argue his role in the Gaza events puts him lower combined with inflation during his term

He was competent. That’s why. He was an evil, autocratic president but he was genuinely benefiting the country / citizenry.

I don’t know what to do with Reagan bc at the time he had major successes, it wasn’t til years later that most of his policies came back to bite us in the ass. Leftists can’t stand him, conservatives think he’s daddy.

I think he’s biggest failure for the American people during his terms was not meeting the moment with the AIDS crisis

The core way to judge a president is their ability to meet the moment. I’d argue there were some moments he met well

He didn’t “not meet the moment” he said it was divine punishment of gays. You phrase it like he made a little innocent mistake when really his government gleefully did nothing while thousands died.
