👆 this. Coworkers on my last team had probably over 100 years service between them (six guys) and maybe 20ish deployments? They probably averaged 3 to 4 deployments each to a combat theater. (Granted they are contractors but, you get the idea, I don’t think we’ve ever had this many experienced guys who have first person knowledge of multiple continents/battlefield types)

Yeah like so many people in our military have experience in Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan. Mfs have seen combat. And so much of the US Army is reservists who are ready to deploy when necessary.

I was mostly talking about in more conventional situations like Ukraine or a hypothetical future conventional war between India and Pakistan. It’s a rhetorical trick in journalism to look out for.
