It’s essentially paying rent to the government when you bought the house already. It’s nonsense. And we shouldn’t even use it for public ed funding, as it makes school budgets inadequate and unequal.

Owning your house is between you and the bank. Taxes are between you and the government. Local taxes are needed to pay for schools, roads, police, and fire departments. If you abolish property taxes, you’d need to replace them with local income taxes

I understand we need taxes to pay for things but at least make it make sense, paying tax on property u own seem stupid to me. If u need more money for the govt, fine, but take it from taxes we already pay, not create some other stupid shit we need to remember
