Idk why my comment was deleted, but theres no evidence that slaves were used as food (trying to not get banned) there’s pretty much zero sources for that and why would they? Because if you paid for a person, why would you allow them to perish, the same reason why the prison industrial complex became so popular after the civil war, because they didn’t have to treat them as well

I also want to point out that I’m black and I’ve never heard of of legitimate instances of slave masters eating their slaves. As I’ve said, it would make no sense logistically to eat people that you “employ” you rely on them for labor, why on earth would you have them killed/ eaten. You may not treat them with respect, but you definitely wouldn’t have them killed thats why slave records of mortality weren’t terrible, because they had a legitimate reason to keep them alive

I’d imagine it wasn’t a common occurrence, but rich people do weird shit TODAY. Would you really put cannibalism above pre-civil war rich people? Two thirds, after all.

Nya you say that slave owners paid for humans so they wouldn’t “allow them to perish” when they literally forced enslaved people to fight each other as a fucking blood sport. These aren’t people who value human life.

Nya And most enslaved people were intentionally kept illiterate! Who the fuck do you think would have written that down. With all the other violence and abuse and murder I wouldn’t be surprised if someone at some point engaged in cannibalism

You act like abolitionists weren’t alive documenting such cases, they were kept illiterate to keep them docile, not to intentionally stop them from being able to work ever, they were beat and abused yes, they were also hanged, but that doesn’t mean they were just eaten??? You went from “it definitely happened you’re ignorant” to “im sure it happened at least once

It’s a myth that the south was dominated by rich elites that owned a large amount of slaves, majority of slave owners were smaller families that saved up their money so they wouldn’t have to work on the farms.

They don’t have to have dominated to have existed lol. This is a non sequitur.

You made the point that “rich people do weird shit” I’m telling you most slave owners weren’t that wealthy

NAT. TURNER. leader of one of the largest slave rebellions. he was caught, and was flayed. his skin was turned into a coin purse, his bones were divided out as trophies to be passed down as heirlooms, and lastly, what was left of him was turned into grease. slave owners described black people as seasoned as all food should be
