He’s not different than most middling presidents we’ve had other than rhetorically. Since we’ve lost faith in our government and institutions many Americans are willing to embrace Trump’s occasionally harsh tendencies, believing this sort of ‘toughness’ he preaches will save us. I think he’s a mediocre politician who is a phenomenal talker. Fascinating guy imo.

He’s quite different on a policy level too. Republicans in the past might’ve scaled back environmental protections but they’d never claim climate change wasn’t real and halt all green energy investment in place of coal. They might be upset about an election loss but they wouldn’t refuse to concede or attempt to submit fake voter certifications to stay in power. They might push for faster deportations but wouldn’t violate the 5th amendment to do so. It’s not just talk, he is truly a historically
