I think it’s just negative connotation that has been used in the past, the only option being full assimilation. Instead of being able to preserve your culture while learning the new one and a new language. I think integration is a better term.

Yeah like idk I just don’t see anything wrong with other cultural practices being observed inside America. Cultural enclaves have had their own specific stuff in America forever. Cajuns and their diaspora with Mardi Gras as an example. I just don’t see how that kinda continuation and survival of cultures is an issue.

Cajuns aren’t the best example overall though cause we were forcibly assimilated (and aren’t immigrants, but still a distinct culture group) by the government

Most of America has a Little Italy, Chinatown, etc in their area
