The very best case for this is that they found hard drives that were unaccounted for before. Which means the DOJ is sloppy and has a security problem. Some companies would have their audit certifications revoked if this happened to them

No exactly. I work in QA for a regulated industry and i often lose sleep over *one* missing document. fuck, even a missed check box found during an audit forces a three month action plan! the standards for the federal government should be higher than that

Exactly. I work in tech and a bunch of big clients (Fortune 500 companies) require certain security assurances and audits. When I found out we had servers that hadn’t been patched in years I nearly pissed and shat myself (almost done replacing them though) 😭

Saw a ticket for a server owned by another department where they had to get the data center employees to connect a “crash cart” because no one knew what was running on it, it wasn’t labeled properly, and they either needed to access the server or turn it off and see who complained 💀
