
Maybe. Frankly, I find it more compelling to think that the last 10 years is really just exposed the rot that was already there. That when the historians come in with any kind of hindsight, it’ll be pretty obvious it was 2001 when the US went fascist. The statistical evidence just isn’t there. There’s nothing that Trump has done that Obama and Biden didn’t do more of. Libs are literally just upset that he’s being blunt about it instead of doing the fascism with decorum.
I can see that with G.W. Bush, but it’s awfully simplistic to call anything that isn’t as far left as you wish it was “fascist” and this is coming from someone who considers themselves to be pretty left-wing. That said, Biden and Obama were far from perfect. But I wouldn’t call them “fascists” just because you didn’t like them. Insufferably neoliberal, sure, but not fascist. Doesn’t mean I don’t think they could have done more to not ultimately enable that sort of thing
