I was just talking to my mom today about how seeing what Trump is doing with the DC takeover, Texas redistricting, etc, it’s really making me lose faith
My family came to America for a better life but I think we’ll be returning to our country soon tbh
Portugal, though as EU citizens, were also free to move elsewhere in the block, and were considering life in other EU countries as well.

Honestly though, I think the “low optimism” take on the EU future over the next 20 years is a lot better than the comparable low optimism take on the US future for the next 20 years

With the rise of the far right in Europe, combined with Europe’s greater vulnerability to war and proximity to populated regions that are gonna become unlivable soon due to climate change, I’m not so sure about that

the US is quite close to central and south america in terms of migration. within a century at this rate, the US military will be filling pits with the bodies of climate refugees all along the border. our government is firmly committed to burning the planet to ash
