The bill the republicans put forth also takes away healthcare from Americans and legal immigrants. The republicans are trying to claim that the Americans who are cut don’t deserve it, and the legal immigrants who are cut are actually illegal (which is a whole other discussion we could get into) Is it true that a % of each group cut doesn’t deserve it? Almost certainly. Is it also true that a % of each group cut has a legitimate claim to healthcare benefits? Also, almost certainly.
To get into the legal immigrants are illegal claim: Trumps first term put immense sanctions on Venezuela bc of their dictators rise to power. That caused a total collapse of their economy. Crime and drug cartels skyrocketed. The Biden admin let in a ton of refugees, partly bc it was our fault to begin with, partly to increase the democratic voter base. The Trump admin is now claiming those refugees are illegal immigrants bc he rescinded the executive order allowing them to come in.
You can say what you believe about whether or not those people should have been allowed asylum in the first place- but the point still stands: Those asylum seekers did not do anything illegal. Politicians are using them as pawns for voter approval, and now they are being demonized as illegal criminals even though they personally did not do anything wrong.
I’ve been researching how the different presidents executed deportations. Trumps agenda is definitely a lot more aggressive. Obama provided a deal saying if they either have children, no crimes, and have been in the US for over 5 years. He also, I believe, avoided deporting harmless immigrants, children, and another group that I cannot recall
Oh certainly so. Our recent presidents have had terrible immigration policies all together. That doesn’t excuse any one of them though, and if anything demands voter outcry about the discrepancy between what voters want with immigration policy and how our leaders implement that policy
I do believe that immigrants should go through legal process to become a citizen. I just think the presidents execution of combating it is embarrassing. I think both sides are corrupt, but I also am disappointed to see the narrative that dems want free healthcare for immigrants. Even though they do not benefit from federal funds. I think it definitely projects where our countries at. I think everything started falling apart a lot quicker after Kirk’s death. Maybe I’m just rambling, but honestly
They want to repeal the cuts that were made in the BBB, but you’re not understanding what that means. The cuts that were made in the BBB were to reduce people getting Medicaid that are able-bodied. I’m not entirely sure why anyone is on board with providing government money to those who can work?
How in the absolute heck can we get back on track as a country and reduce inflation if our country continues to give out handouts? I have not seen one individual in my agency not receive Medicaid that couldn’t physically or even mentally work (at home jobs) and bring in independent income.
