Because those two groups in the States produce the textbooks and control a lot of the media atp and don’t want you thinking critically

for confederacy at least I think it was bc reconstruction would have been basically impossible if we went “everyone involved in this or who believed in it is a traitor”

Yeah, you could own the flag of a country that we are currently at war with but could also argue that it is an expression of your freedom of speech (which it is).

What I meant by "they typically are" is that most people agree it's a treasonous ideology to the values of the United States. You're not literally committing treason by supporting them.
