
That’s not really how it works. Attendings usually do make the same regardless of their experience and any difference in pay will likely come from Medicare reimbursements etc or extra pay for faculty related positions. To put it in a perspective, general surgeons at my hospital, who usually tend to make less money for a surgical specialty are usually paid at around $400,000 straight out of residency.
Ah see I get those vibes from the other side. The “surgeons are the saints of the professional world” thing. But ik the generalizations and harmful stereotypes to both ways. We really just need cheaper medical school and more people going into trades as opposed to communication or some other vague default 4 year degree
