“"The central doctrine of modern conservatism is that tax cuts for the rich are the magic elixir that solves all economic problems... But the empirical evidence for this doctrine is essentially zero. Every time Republicans get the chance to put their theories into practice, the promised growth boom fails to materialize, and we end up with exploding deficits and economic instability instead."
I would also like to point out that this is the majority held opinion by economist. While there are some who blame external factors more than party, they are their minority, and there isn’t a single economist out there who will say the Republican Party is better. If you find one, please give it to me.
watson and blinder is the most widely cited argument from conservatives. However, the paper in question that blames it on external factors is accounting history from World War II up to about 2014. It does not account for Trump or Biden. And I assessed this through years of research. If you would like to do it, you can as well or if you need a specific source or document, please let me provide it to you.
I don’t. The difference is scope. Their accounting history starting at World War II, when conservative economic policy worked (primarily because of the marshall plan and our position is the only functioning superpower in the west). However, Reagan changed the conservative doctrine significantly. And that has resulted in nothing but economic suffering when Republicans are in power.
2a only voter? Because if you’re talking about freedom of press or freedom of speech, Republicans have been significantly worse. Requiring all Pentagon and White House journalism to be reviewed, and Republican states enforcing Israel protected speech. Like putting a college kid in jail for making a netenyahu joke.
it might be marginally stronger than it was it Biden’s worse, but 1, Covid, regardless of your opinion, opinions on it destroyed the global economy, and we recovered faster than anybody in the world. If you compare what the economy, Trump inherited what it is now, you will see he has done a reputable damage. Almost every jobs report that’s come out has been negative. He’s added more national debt in two years than any president ever.
we were having a mature conversation until you tried to be intellectually, dishonest. My entire claim started in 1980 you tried to make some absurd claim at Watson and Blinder and then when that didn’t work, you pivoted to comparing Biden and Trump, and said that I was exaggerating because you don’t understand how time works. I asked for a number because you asked for a source. I’m acting in a way that is conducive to your intelligence.
and trying to pull the how old are you? Card is adorable. Can you imagine if we were having this debate live and I said since 1980 and you said well since 2020 Republicans have been marginally better in this one specific aspect of the economy! You would be laughed out of the room. Please go back to your Legos. You are not fit for this conversation.
you repeatedly attempted ad hominem to avoid addressing what OP was saying to you, and still haven’t addressed the points OP stated. even going as far as ignoring a response to respond with calling OP “very rude” and asking how old they were, then ignoring the response once again afterwards solely deflecting to “I’m going to hang out with my gf…” yes, manipulative, and as OP stated, intellectually dishonest. Address those comments OP sent you that you’ve been desperately deflecting away from.
