this comes as open ai is now selling chatgpt shirts. the forecasts here are founded on the idea that AI does evolve significantly beyond where it is currently and is capable of doing large things, which there is zero guarantee of

there is no balance sheet, at least not public since all the ai companies are private or deliberately shrouding ai stuff with their regular operations (meta im pretty sure has gotten some attention with how theyre not reflecting their part liability in some datacenter) so any of their infrastructure is completely at risk of being worthless, though i was more talking about the power centers and production centers that are being made to support the "ai boom" which could just be dead.

im incredibly bearish on the entire ai boom because if it works, that means tons of people who NEED work wont have it, and society isnt changing to help the needy, also the infrastructure for all of this lasts 3ish years (some now stretching it to 6 or more to decrease depreciation) so theres gonna be a fuckload of waste being produced. if it doesnt work, then we're all fucked. we're in a quiet recession thatll fall into a huge depression because so much stuff is unstable and barely working rn
